Kayla is a native of Tuscaloosa.

She graduated from the University of Alabama with a B.S. in Human Development and Family Studies in 2009 where she was a member of the Alpha Omicron Pi Sorority.  She received her Juris Doctorate from the University of Alabama School of Law in 2012.

Kayla is a member of the Executive Committee for the Tuscaloosa County Bar Association and is the Chair of the Domestic Committee. She is a member of the Alabama State Bar, the National Association of Defense Lawyers, the Alabama Criminal Defense Lawyers Association, and the Volunteer Lawyers Program.

Kayla and her family are members of Church of the Highlands in Tuscaloosa, AL.
